Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Donald W. Pennington is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He is fellowshipped trained in Sports Medicine and has achieved the pinnacle Specialty Board Certification in Sport Medicine. Dr. Pennington graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. and M.S. in Microbiology and minor in Chemistry. Then received his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and accomplished residency through Michigan State University in their Detroit, Michigan location. In addition, Dr. Pennington, completed an advanced Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Pennington brought all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, total shoulder arthroplasty, and cartilage restoration to the Willamette Valley in Oregon in 2005. During his career he has cared for the players of local, college, and professional sports teams including the Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Wildcats, and as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery for the Oregon State Beavers. He provides equally expert care for elite athletes, everyday athletes and everyone who desires the highest quality. Excellent outcomes, bedside manner and individual focus sets him apart.
Dr. Pennington specializes in surgeries of the shoulder and knee. In addition to his advanced arthroscopic skills, he also provides cartilage restoration techniques. He performs ligament reconstruction, meniscal and cartilage repair of the knee and Rotator Cuff repair, SLAP and stabilization surgery of the shoulder. Really, all shoulder and knee surgeries from A-Z. He has special interest in Orthopedic Biologics including Plate-rich Plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapies.
Away from the operating room he really enjoys his family, mountain biking, off-roading and also restoring, modifying, and customizing cars. He and his wife, DeeAnna, have three sons and are enjoying their first grandson. After practicing for more than eighteen years in Corvallis Oregon, founding Samaritan Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, and serving for more than 15 years as the Chief of Orthopedic for Oregon State University (Go Beavs!), the Penningtons are making Las Vegas their new home. The move to Las Vegas puts them closer to aging parents, their kids and grandson. They are looking forward to new friendships, new adventures, and finding the beauty of the Las Vegas desert.
